Studio Guidelines
When visiting Solace Yoga Studio we kindly ask that you adhere to the following guidelines and policies, so that all members may enjoy a safe, effective, and enjoyable class experience. Tell your instructor if…
• You have any medical considerations including injuries, pregnancy or special medications that might require yoga modifications.
• You prefer no hands-on physical corrections and/or adjustments.
Please keep in mind…
• Consult your physician before beginning any yoga practice.
• Please plan on arriving a few minutes early to sign in, store your belongings in a locker, and set up your mat and props in the studio.
• Please plan to stay through the end of the class. Leaving early is disruptive to the other members of the class and prevents you and others from gaining the needed solace from the class.
• Please turn off or silence your cell phone.
• It is best to practice before eating; if you eat before your yoga practice, please make sure that it is small and light.
• Listen to your body, if you experience pain or electrical impulses, don’t do the pose. A pose may not feel comfortable due to stretching or muscle shaking and that is a different sensation. You are welcome to modify the asanas (poses) as needed and appropriate.
• Choose a class level that is appropriate for you.
• We encourage you to invest in a yoga mat of your own; it will be a welcome landing place for you and your energy. Mat rentals are available and will need to be cleaned at the end of the yoga session. Solace Yoga Studio staff members will be happy to help you find a yoga mat suitable for your needs. Special orders are available.
• Women who are menstruating should not practice inversions because it disrupts the downward flow of apana (an internal energy). Instead during these poses you may practice child’s pose or other poses directed by the instructor.
• Drinking water during class is not recommended. Water will cool the tapas (the inner fires), which are best kept hot. The greater the inner fire, the more impurities are burned away. The inner heat will also keep the muscles warm and pliable. It is highly recommended that you drink plenty of water after class to continue flushing toxins from the system.
